We started the 2026/2027 school year at ARS AKADEMY at full speed. A great deal has happened in the first two months, on stage, in the art studios and in the music rooms. Here is a short round-up of the highlights from September and October.
A new year and new faces
After enrolment at the beginning of September, lessons got under way at every one of our teaching locations. Our dance team at OD PRIOR in Partizánske has been joined by a new teacher, Kyara K., and we are delighted that some of our former pupils are now helping out in the dance team too. We are growing our own talent. The visual arts department now works with more than 500 children and nine teachers.
Thank you to all the parents who handed their education voucher directly to their child's teacher at the school. The voucher supports the school and has given families a reduction in fees across all our arts departments.
Dance department: performing from the very first weeks
Our dancers were on stage on the very first weekend of September at the Farmers' Day in Uhrovec, where children from Uhrovec, Dolné Vestenice, Partizánske and Bánovce nad Bebravou performed together. A few days later, poor weather did not put them off at the ContiTech open day in Dolné Vestenice. At the start of October our oldest dancers from Dolné Vestenice entertained the crowd at the local football derby between Dolné Vestenice and Skačany.
Thank you to our teachers, the children and their parents for all the preparation, the lifts and the support.
Visual arts department: an autumn full of colour
Our art studios have produced a wealth of lovely work in just two months. At Maľované námestie in Bánovce the children drew with chalk straight onto the tarmac, in Dolné Vestenice and Veľké Uherce they worked on portraits, and the youngest pupils at the Hollého nursery school made self-portraits in plasticine. In Bánovce the pupils created painted T-shirts, scratch art, ceramics, paintings on canvas and autumn still lifes in soft pastel, and the older pupils are already preparing for the Christmas card competition.
In Slatina nad Bebravou the children painted fairy-tale castles and unicorns in watercolour, along with dot paintings inspired by Aboriginal Australian art. First-year pupils at Oslany primary school made a black and white dotted “cat family” and little owls, and pupils in Šišov made their own lanterns. A new generation of young artists at the Oslany nursery school is creating its very first pieces too.
We also looked for inspiration outside the classroom: our oldest art pupils from Bánovce visited the Miloš Alexander Bazovský Gallery in Trenčín. Inspiration does not have to be far away; we can find it quite close to home.
Music department: the joy of music
Music lessons are now in full swing, including the preparatory classes. Our youngest pianists, taught by Anna S., have already started playing duets and are showing that they love music from the very first notes. We are also pleased when pupils find their way to music outside lessons: our guitarists have put together their own guitar covers of well-known songs.
Coming up
At the end of October our dancers are looking forward to the Halloween dance parties: 26 October in Bánovce and Partizánske, 27 October in Uhrovec and 28 October in Dolné Vestenice. Don't forget your costumes!
