How your child joins us
Enrolment comes in three parts: you fill in the online application, bring your child to a short admission session, and we then send you our decision. At the session a teacher checks just a few basics for the department, such as a sense of rhythm or moving around a space, and finds out what your child enjoys.
We teach the group departments (dance, visual arts and drama) from the age of 4. For the music department, children need to be at least 5 by 31 August. For five-year-olds we run Rytmíkovo, a music preparation course in nursery schools, after which we recommend the department that suits them best.

From application to the first lesson
Choose a department and branch
Have a look at our departments and find the branch nearest to you. We teach at 19 branches in 15 towns and villages.
Fill in the online application
The application is completed online in the iZUŠ system. Printed out it has three pages: the application, a declaration and consent to the processing of personal data. Please sign it.
Come to the admission session
Ideally, bring the printed and signed application with you. A teacher checks a few basic aptitudes for the department with your child.
Receive our decision
The school management lets you know by email and sends you the admission decision, which you sign.
Submitting an application does not mean your child has been admitted yet. We try to accommodate everyone, but if a department is full at a branch, we will offer you a different department or area of study.
Can your child apply?
Enter the date of birth and choose the school year. We work out the age on 31 August, which is what counts for admission, and show which departments your child can join. The date stays in your browser.
The age check needs JavaScript. The rule is simple: dance, visual arts and drama accept children from 4, music from 5 on 31 August.

What the teacher looks for
We are not expecting finished artists. We only check the things a child can build on in the department.
Dance
- a basic sense of space

Visual arts
- samples of their own artwork to bring along
- the ability to work independently
- an interest in drawing, painting and art techniques
Music
- rhythm and intonation, in other words whether they can sing a note in tune
- an interest in music and in a particular instrument

- whether they can repeat a short text with expression
Admission sessions for the 2026/2027 school year
Admission for this school year took place in June 2026, directly at the branches. Dates for the 2027/2028 school year have not been announced yet. If you would like to apply now, give us a call and we will tell you what is possible.

What lessons cost in the 2026/2027 school year
The parents' contribution covers only about 8 to 9 % of what it costs to teach one pupil. We keep it low on purpose, so that an arts education stays within reach of every family in the region.

The dance fund (€20 to €50 a year) is agreed by the parents' association.

How and when to pay
The contribution is paid half-yearly in advance by bank transfer to the school's account: for the first half-year by 30 September, for the second by 28 February.

Families in material need are exempt from the contribution for one department. We do not offer any other discounts.
Department fund
On top of the contribution, a department fund is paid once a year to the Umenie nás spája civic association, by 30 October and separately for each department. Music and visual arts have a materials fund of €20 a year. Dance has a costume and materials fund of €2 to €5 a month, that is €20 to €50 a year, with the amount agreed by the parents' association. Drama does not have a fund yet.
If you hand in the education voucher on time, we take €20 off the department fund.
Dance shoes and clothing, art supplies (an apron, brushes, watercolours, pencils) and a musical instrument are provided by the family. The school does not lend instruments.

Admission dates for the 2027/2028 school year have not been announced yet. This downloads an .ics file that opens in the calendar on iPhone, Android, Outlook and Google Calendar.

From what age can my child start?
We teach dance and visual arts from the age of 4. The group departments (dance, visual arts and drama) also accept children who are not yet 5. For music, children need to be at least 5 by 31 August, and for five-year-olds there is Rytmíkovo in nursery schools.
Does submitting the application mean my child is admitted?
No. The school management decides on admission after the admission session. We let you know by email and send you the admission decision to sign.
What if the department at our branch is full?
We try to find a place for everyone. If a department is full at your branch, we will offer you a different department or area of study.
Can my child attend more than one department?
Yes. The contribution and the department fund are then paid separately for each department. The exemption for families in material need applies to one department only.
Do we need to buy an instrument or supplies?
Yes. The instrument, dance shoes and clothing and art supplies are provided by the family, as the school does not lend instruments. If you are not sure which instrument to choose, give us a call.
Can I apply on paper?
Yes, you can download a paper application for the 2026/2027 school year as a PDF. The online application is filled in on the web, and for the admission session you simply print and sign it.
