Drama

Acting and spoken word

Stories in which your child plays the lead

Every day we all live through dozens of stories. In the drama department children learn to observe the world around them and use improvisation to express emotions and act out different situations.

Who drama is for

For children who love to talk, pretend to be someone else and make up stories. And just as much for the quieter ones. Drama develops personality, imagination, thinking and feeling, and above all confidence and the courage to stand up in front of people. That comes in handy when answering in class and, one day, at a first job interview.

The department is still small and just getting started. In the online application it's listed as the acting department (herecký odbor).

What happens in lessons

Communication

How to say clearly what I mean, and how to listen to others.

Voice and speech

Working with voice and speech so children speak clearly and can be heard in the back row.

Movement

For an actor, the body matters as much as the words.

Poetry and prose recitation

Children learn a text not just by heart but with expression and meaning.

Improvisation and productions

Their own ideas grow into stage productions that pupils perform at school events.

How to sign up for drama

  1. Fill in the online application

Applications go through the iZUŠ system. The printout has three pages: the application, a declaration and consent to the processing of personal data. Ideally, bring it to enrolment already signed.

  2. Entrance assessment

A short session with a teacher at the branch. It's not a test of finished skills; we're looking at potential.

At the assessment we look at:

    • clear speech and moving in space
    • whether the child can repeat a short text with expression

There is currently no department fund for drama.

  3. Decision

The school management decides on admission. We send you the result by email along with the formal admission decision.

Entrance assessments for the 2026/2027 school year took place at the branches in June 2026. If you'd like your child to start now, write to us or give us a call and we'll tell you where there's still a free place.
