The choice is wide, so there's little risk your child won't find the right fit:
Most of our musicians play the piano, sing or play the guitar.
Rytmíkovo: first notes for five-year-olds
Rytmíkovo is a music readiness programme for five-year-olds that takes place right in their nursery school. It lets the teacher see where a child's strengths lie, and afterwards we recommend the department where they're most likely to thrive. It doesn't have to be music. In 2025/2026, 258 children took part in Rytmíkovo.
What the course looks like
Instruments are taught one-to-one, so the teacher focuses on your child alone. Alongside that comes music theory, where children learn to read music and understand rhythm. Later on they also play in chamber groups and piano duets.
Pupils perform at concerts and competitions, and we prepare the most talented for study at a conservatoire.

2022
A former guitar pupil from our Bánovce branch won the 10th series of Česko Slovensko má talent and went on to the J. L. Bella Conservatoire in Banská Bystrica.

Silver and bronze awards at Stančekova Prievidza, FULLSTAR Ružomberok, Banskoštiavnické kladivká and other competitions, plus second place at the online World Open Music Competition in Belgrade.

2026
Letná romantika pod hviezdami (Summer romance under the stars), an open-air concert in the courtyard of the Thonet manor house in Veľké Uherce. Read the article (in Slovak)
The school's concert hall is in Veľké Uherce, and we recently bought a Yamaha AvantGrand hybrid piano for it. Our own competitions, DOLCE PIANO and LITTLE VOICE, give every pupil a chance to play or sing in front of an audience.

Fill in the online application
Applications go through the iZUŠ system. The printout has three pages: the application, a declaration and consent to the processing of personal data. Ideally, bring it to enrolment already signed.

Entrance assessment
A short session with a teacher at the branch. It's not a test of finished skills; we're looking at potential.
At the assessment we look at:
- rhythm and pitch (whether your child sings in tune)
- an interest in music and in a particular instrument
Your child must be at least 5 years old by 31 August. You provide the musical instrument yourself, as the school does not lend instruments.

Decision
The school management decides on admission. We send you the result by email along with the formal admission decision.
Entrance assessments for the 2026/2027 school year took place at the branches in June 2026. If you'd like your child to start now, write to us or give us a call and we'll tell you where there's still a free place.
