Ars Akademy dancers at the European finals
On Thursday 21 June 2023, a team of dancers from Partizánske and Dolné Vestenice travelled to the European finals of the Showtime dance competition, held in Siófok on Lake Balaton in Hungary. Twenty-four dancers and 7 routines nominated from the qualifying rounds represented Ars Akademy over two days of the four-day competition. The dancers had qualified for the EUROPEAN FINALS through the qualifying round in Levice, the Slovak Grand Final and the online European qualifier. After the long journey, Thursday was a demanding day straight away, with five routines to perform. Success came quickly. First thing in the morning Eliška F. performed her solo Minnie Mouse and won 2nd place in the “B category” in the Mini age group (children aged 5 to 8). Next up were the dancers from Dolné Vestenice, who placed 10th in the “B category” with To sme my. These dancers were overjoyed after their second routine, Leví kráľ, which won 2nd place in the “B category”. In the afternoon the Partizánske dancers competed with Double Bounce and Aladdin. Double Bounce won 1st place in the “B category” and Aladdin came 4th in the “B category”. After a long day in the sports hall, the dancers moved on to the hotel for a well-earned rest and an evening swim in Lake Balaton. On the second day the school was represented by the solos of Nela K. and Adrián U. Here they competed in the “A” category, among professionals, where they had earned a place thanks to their high scores in the qualifying rounds. Against strong competition Nela K. finished 7th, and Adrián U. rounded off the competition for Ars Akademy by winning 1st place. The dancers were thrilled, and even more so when they arrived home to find their parents waiting with a surprise celebration at the bus stations in Partizánske and Dolné Vestenice.
